Christmas Message from the Chairman

Dear All at NUFC

I would firstly like to take this opportunity to wish you all a superb Christmas and New Year. We've had some highs and lows so far this season and we still face some considerable challenges as a Club, but if we can all work and pull together, 2005 can be a very positive year for us.

Some News;

Development - At our Club Committee Meeting earlier this week, we discussed our medium and long term future. Obviously, our medium term future remains at the Grove and although we have received a set back with our planning application for dressing rooms, we will still be looking to make improvements at the site. We will be proceeding with the fence surround which we hope to have in place by the Spring. We have permission to erect the fence surround around our Somerset County pitch and we feel it will give our ground definition and improve its overall look. We will also be looking at revising our dressing room proposal and perhaps submitting another planning application. However, this will depend on advice taken from a Planning Consultant. Finally, we will be looking to improve what we have got in the Grove Sports Centre itself. We are a major (if not THE major) revenue source at the Centre and intend to use this argument to improve the facilities we have available. More details will follow as things take shape over the next few weeks and as always, I will let you know more when a more definitive position is reached.

Disco/Karaoke - As previously advised, this event will be going ahead on the evening of Saturday, 15th January, at the Grove. I realise everyone is understandably pre-occupied with Christmas at the moment, but we really need this event to be as successful as the last. As a Club, we will all be back together when the season resumes on Saturday, 8th January and Barry and I will be selling tickets on that day. Tickets will be £5.00 so please have your money ready when we come to you - we will only have seven days to sell tickets so please help. Also, please use the Christmas period to publicise the event with your friends and loved ones.

Bank Holiday Monday Go-Karting - Next Monday (27th December) sees another Sampson promotion in the form of pedal Go-Kart racing in the Grove Car Park with tyre surround track and all. All NUFC members and friends are welcome to take part from 2.00 pm, so if you want to have a laugh, lose some of those pounds fired on by the Christmas food and raise some money for the Club, be there on Monday. I know Barry has worked hard to make this happen so please support this event if you can.

That's about it for now. I dare say our paths will cross over the holiday period, but if I don't see you, have a good one and here's to a great 2005.

Spence
